Nigerian President to Sign Electoral Bill Friday
Nigerian President, General Muhammadu Buhari is expected to sign the electoral bill on Friday (February 25, 2022)
This is made available to the public by the presidency official who confirmed that Mr President would sign the bill by Friday noon.
For over two weeks, the general public have expressed discontent and uncertainty over the President’s indecision over the amended bill
NaijaReporters has earlier reported that the Nigerian Senate re-adjusted the Electoral Act bill in 2021 to the Nigerian President on Jan. 31 for the 2nd time, having modified the bill on which he (President) withheld assent for some reasons.
On Tuesday (February 22, 2022) in an interview on a popular television station in Abuja, Channels TV ‘s title, Sunrine Daily. The Presidential Senior Special Advicer on Medial and Publicity, Femi Adesina assured the general public that the Amended Electoral Bill would be signed by the President in an hours.
Adesina said, “It could be signed today; it could be signed tomorrow in a matter of hours, not days. Hours could be 24 hours. It could be 48 hours, but not days and not weeks.”
On February 23, 2022 (Wednesday) a source close to the presidency disclosed that arrangement has been made by the President to assent the electoral bill into law on Friday (February 25, 2022).
The source stated, “would finally put all anxieties to rest”
