Spouse apprehend for killing husband with hot water in Ogun
Ramota Bello, a housewife, has been detained by officers from the Ogun State Police Command in connection with the suspected murder of her husband, Bello Saliu.
The suspect was apprehended on Monday, nine days after she washed her spouse in hot water, resulting in his death the next day the following day.
An investigation into the occurrence at the Lafenwa Divisional Headquarters in Abeokuta has shown that the incident was reported by a younger brother of the deceased.
DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state’s Public Relations Officer, made the announcement in a statement released on Thursday.
According to reports, the woman drowned her spouse with hot water after dumping it on him while he was sleeping in his bed.
According to Oyeyemi, the event took place on February 12, 2022, after a small quarrel between the suspect and her spouse at the time. Her spouse was asleep at the time, he said, so she heated a pot of water and spilled it on him, causing him serious physical injury.
“The victim was quickly rushed to hospital for treatment but gave up the ghost on the 13th of February 2022 while receiving treatment.
“The suspect, having realised the gravity of the crime, took to flight since then.
“The case was not initially reported to the police until 21st of February 2022, when the suspect was sighted in her hideout.
“Upon the report, the DPO Lafenwa Division, CSP Kayode Shadrach, quickly detailed his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.”
The suspect has been sent to the murder department of the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, according to Lanre Bankole, the Commissioner of Police. He will be subjected to a discreet investigation and thorough prosecution.
