World Reacts to Russia’s Attacks in Ukraine

Some world leaders have criticized Russia’s occupation of Ukraine, with Western nations vowing to impose sanctions on Russia, while UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urges an end to the crisis

NaijaReporters reports that, US President Joe Biden, who said the whole world was praying for the Ukrainian people, warned that Russia was responsible for the deaths.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whose country is a member of NATO, has condemned Russia’s move, describing it as a blow to the continent’s stability.

In a speech to the nation, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson described the Russian president as a “dictator” who would be subject to sanctions for his role in the liberation struggle.

He and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, after an emergency meeting of the Security Council, appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling for an end to the attacks on human life.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov by telephone that his country understood Russia’s concerns on security issues, and was reluctant to criticize it.
