Russian Invasion: Shakhtar Donetsk Coach Killed In Ukraine

On Thursday, Shakhtar Donetsk revealed the loss of their young coach, who was killed while defending Ukraine from Russia’s invasion, on the battlefield.

On Thursday night, Shakhtar Donetsk CEO Serhyi Palkin confirmed the news.

Palkin in his statement said, “One of our employees was killed, he was a children’s coach.

“He was hit by a fragment of a Russian bullet.”

This comes only two days after two Ukrainian soccer players were slain in a confrontation on the field.

According to a tweet sent by the International Federation of Professional Footballers, the deaths of Vitalii Sapylo and Dmytro Martynenko were revealed (FIFPRO).

FIFPRO wrote, “Our thoughts are with the families, friends, and teammates of young Ukrainian footballers Vitalii Sapylo (21) and Dmytro Martynenko (25), football’s first reported losses in this war.

“May they both rest in peace.”
