2023: Avoid Politicking, COAS Warns Troops Ahead Of 2023 Elections

Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, The Nigerian Chief of Army Staff (COAS) on Tuesday (March 8, 2022) warned toops of the Nigerian Army Force to avoid being dragged into politicking as electoral activities strengthen ahead to the 2023 general elections.

Army Boss, General Faruk Yahaya gave the warnning in Uyo, the Capital city of Akwa Ibom State while addressing brigades during his working visit of two brigade (AOR) Area of Responsibility.

A statement approved by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the
Director of Army Public Relations stated COAS also admonished the brigades to remain focused in the handling of constant internal security operations across the nation.

He repeated that the role of armies during elections, is to give backing to the Nigeria Police force, which is the lead mechanism in the defense architecture during elections.

The army Boss charged the armies to remain resolute in defending the territorial sincerity of the country and its citizens.

He also advised them to remain devoted to energetically securing national economic properties by examining the activities of criminals and economic saboteurs, who are intent on sabotaging the oil and gas sector of the country’s economy.

Army Boss encouraged the brigades that their managerial and operational challenges will obtain due and quick attention, expanding that the welfare of personnel is crucial under his administration.

During the working visit in Uyo, the Nigeria Army Boss inspected the ongoing projects and programs in the new barracks under construction at NSIT Ubium LGA of Akwa Ibom State.
