The Premier League has sacked Roman Abramovich as chairman of Chelsea Football Club following penalties imposed on him by the UK government
On Saturday, Hyundai, one of the company’s sponsors, terminated its contract with the club.
In response to Russia’s occupation of Ukraine, the British government seized Abramovich’s assets in Britain on Thursday, a move that forced the billionaire to suspend the sale of the club as he had originally planned.
The Premier League says Abramovich’s impeachment will not affect the club’s operations, especially in training and play
The move comes on the heels of a sale of the group’s shares, which Abramovich initially attempted to do on March 2, after the British parliament began threatening to impose sanctions.
