Nigerian Students to Occupy Abuja Streets if ASUU Strike Continues – NANS President

The Nigerian Students Association National President, Sunday Asefon has threatened the Federal Government to occupy street of Abuja if lecturers strike continues.

According to him, university students have spent over 4 weeks at home since the beginning of the strike embarked by the Academics on Monday (February 14, 2022).

Recall that Academics had since prolonged its ongoing industrial strike for another (8) eight-week after all requests to resolve its disagreement with the federal government failed

In a complete interview with news correspondent, National president of NANS, Com Sunday Asefon promised that Nigerian students will return to the roads again if every action to settle the ongoing crisis between FG and ASUU in the education sector fails.

Asefon, NANS President announced the outcome of their Monday, (March 14, 2022) meeting, said in the meeting which held on zoom, most of their students have recommended that since Nigerian government and Varsity lecturers have established a new school on the street of FCT Abuja, Nigerian students will now return back to the street once their ultimate intervention of involving other stakeholders including ex-NANS leadership fails.

He further disclosed that maybe, Nigerian students should start donating money and fund the federal government if they don’t have money to meet university teachers’ demands.
