Gunmen Raid Imo Police Station, Kill 2 Police officers

Early hour of Saturday morning, Unknown gunmen blasted the Umuguma Police Station Division in Owerri West local government area of Imo State and gunned down two Police officers.

One of the detectives was Ifeanyi, who hailed from Umuguma and a final-year student of the Imo State University.

The gunmen raided the police devision in the early hours of Saturday (March19) at about 3am in which the operation lasted about 30 minutes.

Dwellers stated they heard massive explosives in successions.

According to a witness, who is also a resident, Mr Ejike explained that nobody slept here, we were scared to leave our houses but we knew it was heavy storm. Unfortunately they murdered our own brother, Ifeanyi who was trying to protect the station and his people by extension.”

Sources said the assailants overpowered the security operatives during the operation which left vehicles and properties demolished.

Already hundreds of people have surrounded the station to grab a glimpse of the event.

However, the state Police command spokesman, Michael Abattam, confirmed the invasion but retained that no life was lost and no firearm was carted away.
