The Chairman of Anti-graft Agency, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has announced that ex-governor of Anambra state, Willie Obiano, has been permitted bail.
Ex-governor, who is under questioning for 42 billion naira fraud, has been in Anti-graft agency custody since Thursday when he was apprehended at the Lagos Airport(Murtala Muhammed International) while trying to leave the country for the USA.
While sheaking to news correspondents on the sideline of the five Annual General Assembly meeting of the Network of National Anti-Corruption Institutions in West Africa in FCT Abuja on Monday (March 21), EFCC boss clarified that the agency was waiting for him to refine his bail.
Asked why the Agency has kept the ex-governor in its detention, beyond the duration permitted by the constitution, The Agency boss stated, “Nothing political about the arrest of the immediate Anambra State Governor, Obiano. He has been given bail.”
Anti-graft agency boss did not reveal the details of the bail.
