A South African court has sentenced a former university student to three years in prison for allegedly misappropriating $ 1 million sent to her bank account.

Sibongile Mani, 31, was hoping for $ 100 as a scholarship, but was mistakenly sent $ 1 million.

Instead of returning the money, Mani made several purchases including clothes and cell phones and went to a dance party where she spent $ 56,000, after spending two months spending until the mistake was realized.

Some people view the 3-year sentence as the worst in the country.
