Military Jets Bombs Terrorists Between Kaduna And Niger States

An airstrike by the Nigerian military killed at least 34 terrorists in Mangoro village, a border settlement between Kaduna and Niger states.

According to reports, the air component of Operation Thunder Attack conducted the strike based on solid intelligence regarding terrorist activities in the region.

At about 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, the military received intelligence that some 70 terrorists on 40 motorbikes and several on foot were seen traveling towards the Akilibu – Sarkin Pawa Road, near Mangoro village.

A fighter plane was sent based on the intelligence, intercepting and neutralizing the terrorists, forcing the survivors to ditch their bikes and run into the adjacent undergrowth.

Local sources on the ground verified that the terrorists had been killed.

The military sources quoted by Leadership said:

“As the aircraft approached the scene, several terrorists were seen running in disarray on sighting the aircraft, abandoning their motorcycles to take cover within nearby bushes.

“The terrorists were subsequently engaged in different waves with rockets while those fleeing were mopped up with canons decisively.

“Feedback from local sources around Mangoro village disclosed that 17 motorcycles including 34 dead bodies as well as 14 locally fabricated guns belonging to the terrorists were recovered.”

However, it remained unclear if the terrorists were involved for Monday’s assault on the Abuja-Kaduna train, and the source could not corroborate this.

“It is unclear if the terrorists were part of those that attacked and killed 8 passengers days ago onboard a Kaduna bound train,” he said.
