Idris Wase, the Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives on Wednesday (March 30) blasted service chiefs and the ministers of appropriate agencies over their negligence to honour the houses’ invitation.

The representatives summoned the service chiefs and ministers of appropriate ministries and agencies to come up before it in concurrence with committees on aviation chairmen, police affairs, security and intelligence, Nigerian army, defence, airforce, and land transport following the new invasion on the Kaduna railway line.

But they sent people to represent them, an act that annoyed the Deputy Speaker.

“We do not have any concern respecting your responsibility and your role. As functional officers, you have the intel in terms of what has to be done, but I’m constrained as the deputy-speaker to continue the discussion because the operational officials are the ones that are supposed to be here while you give them the vital support,” he stated.

“I am saying with a hefty heart. No matter the operations our chiefs are dealing with, I believe the assembly needs a listening ear. This is the house of Nigerian. I am not happy conveying my dissatisfaction.

Wase, therefore, rejected to meet the diplomats, claiming that the service chiefs must appear in person to clarify the conditions surrounding the invasions.
