Former Heads of State, Govs in Attendance As Buhari Presides over Council of State Meeting

President General Muhammadu Buhari is presently governing a meeting of the Council of State at Statehouse, Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday (April 14).

The meeting, which commenced at 10am,
examined a minute silence in honour of Late Interim Shonekan, the former Head of Interim National Government, who departed from this life on January 11, 2022.

This is the fourth time the President Buhari will govern the meeting, with the first being held on (October 21, 2015) and the second on 7th of September 2016 and the third meeting was held virtually in August, 2020.

The Council of State is an organ of the Nigerian Federal Government saddled with the task of informing the executive-arm of government on policy matters.

Issues of insecurity and economy are asserted to form part of the conversations at the meeting.

Those in attendance are Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Ibarahim Gambari, the Chief of Staff to the President; Babagana Monguno, National Security Adviser.

Nigeria Former Heads of State present in the meeting are General Abdusalami Abubakar, General Yakubu Gowon and Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

Others are attending the meeting (virtually) from their different states.

Governors in attendance are Hope Uzodinma from Imo, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Bello Matawalle of Zamfara, ans Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, amongst others.

Other state governors are also attending virtually from their different states.
