The Federal Government of Nigeria says it is targeting to hold national census in April 2023 after the forthcoming general elections which scheduled for February and March of 2023.
But the NPC-National Population Commission will administer Pilot Census (PC) in June this year (2022) after the political parties internal elections.
The last census conducted in the Nigeria was in August 2006.
Nasir Isa-Kwarra, the Director-General of Nigeria Population Commission explained this at the end of Thursday meeting of (Council of State) governed by President General Muhammedu Buhari.
The Commission boss explained that the board will deploy outstanding technology in administer of the coming National Census.
Isa-Kwarra reviewed that through census information and data is established for planning, pointing out also that the (data) presently being used are mere forecasts and obsolete.
The executive governor of Jigawa State, Abubakar Badaru, on his part announced that President will meet Nigeria’s security chiefs on Tuesday coming week over the deteriorating security dilemma following suggestions and remarks by members of the council of state.
