Insecurity, Crisis in some States can cause Inconclusive Elections in 2023 – Falana

Lagos based Human Rights Lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) has expressed concern over insecurity in Nigeria.

The activity of terrorists, bandits, criminal and crisis in some part of the country can lead to inconclusive elections in 2023 forthcoming election.

The Human Rights Lawyer, who spoke with news correspondents in Ilawe Ekiti of Ekiti South West LG Area during Alawe of Ilawe 10th coronation anniversary, Since many parts of the nation have been dominated by gunmen it is difficult to talk of having free and fair elections in forthcoming polls. There are several LGAs and some states that have been totally control by the terrorists.

There is no way elections can hold in such affected areas. We are struggling towards a situation which is going to bring inconclusive in the exercise of elections if voters cannot vote due to insecurity and failure of Nigerian government. Whoever is declared winner will have issues because those who fail in the elections will affirm that you must go and perform elections in some parts where they are famous but which must have been dominated by the terrorists

Falana also explained that occasions in recent times have indicated that the Federal Government has abandoned its war against crime.

While talking about presidential pardon granted to two former state governors of Taraba and Plateau states who were imprisoned for embezzle public funds in their various state He pointed out that the action of FG has further legitimised crime and mismanagement of public-funds in Nigeria.

the pardon given to them is just an expansion of the policy of forsaking of the anti corruption.
