A member of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress of Bayelsa State chapter has been killed.
The dead identified as Sunday Frank-Oputu, was reportedly shot around 11:50 pm at his house, Baybridge Road in Yenagoa
Frank-Oputu is said to be an indigene of the Igbomotoru town in the Southern Ijaw LG Area of the state.
Ben Nebolisa Okolo, the Commissioner of Police in the state assured dwellers that the police authorities are ensuring that the criminals are swiftly apprehended.
In a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday said, gunmen climbed the fence and gained entry to the house of the victim, Frank Oputu at Number 1 Jonah road Bay- Bridge, Kpansia, shot at the victim via the window of his room and wounded him.
“He was rushed to hospital where he confirmed dead by the medical doctor
The police reported that the body has been placed at the mortuary for autopsy.
Okolo authorized operatives to heighten efforts to recognize and arrest the culprits.
