Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the Kano State governor has endorsed his deputy Nasir Gawuna as his successor in next year’s elections.
Sources in the state said Ganduje nominated Gawuna at an APC stakeholder meeting held in the state ahead of the primary-elections.
The participants also endorsed former commissioner of local government Murtala Sule Garo as his running mate in the next general election.
Sources outside the meeting said the party’s top brass played a key role in persuading Garo to withdraw from the gubernatorial race to return to Gawuna’s deputy.
Kano political observers say Gawuna has been instrumental in the state’s progress in agriculture and food security as well as supporting Ganduje in leading the state.
