Strike: FG’s 2009 Agreement With ASUU Was Signed In Error ― Senate President

Ahmad Lawan, the senate President of Nigerian National Assembly has stated that the federal govt’s 2009 agreement with University lecturers (ASUU) was signed in error.

He announced this during a meeting discussion with Nigerian students led by its president Asefon at Senate complex in Abuja.

The meeting which was facilitated by Nigerian Bishop, Dr Sunday Onuoha with an impression of solving the ongoing industrial strike

Lawal depicted the disagreement of Lecturers with FG as the serious problem that have an impact on students and the country

He said the major issue is the 2009 agreement by the past administration.

The Senate President assured Nigerian Students of getting the govt and lecturers back to negotiation.

While explaining the significance of education in the country, he said no nation can develop without education

He urged the leadership of Nigerian students to distance themselves from any actions that can disrupt peace in the country.

The Student leadership expressed disappointment with the Federal govt neglecting education of students in the country
