President Muhammadu Buhari (Retd) has pledged to assist South Sudan to combat insurgency in the country.

The President announced this on Friday (May 13) while receiving the Special Envoy of President Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan, Albino Mathom Ayuel at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

He told Albino Mathom Ayuel of the situation his government met on ground in the North-east in 2015, and how tremendous steps have been taken to compare with present days

Buhari cited, ” We will study the situation, and see how we can help”.

Mr Albino Mathom Ayuel had conveyed to Buhari about the condition in his nation, especially how an insurgent gang, “just like your Boko Haram/ISWAP here slaughters, maims and eliminate.” He then solicited for a “tight alliance on security, extremely the training of army troops, since you know this area.”

The Special Envoy stated South Sudan was keen on halting the criminal activities, “hence this plea to our great brother.”
