The Federal Govt has on Friday expressed positive that new accord reached with varsity lecturers and other university unions will yield good result by next week.

This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday by Olajide Oshundun, the Head of Press and Public Relations in the Labour and Employment ministry.

The statement explained that, Dr Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment made the declaration while addressing news correspondents immediately after a meeting regarding the persistent strike actions by the education sector unions.

Recall that ASUU, NASU and other unions in the federal govt universities had embarked on strike following the FGN incapability to meet their requests.

“We had a generous and productive discussion; we looked at the matters dispassionately and attained some accords, to the happiness of everybody in meeting,” minister cited.

“We examined. Everybody was glad. We achieved some treaties and we hope that by next week, those agreements will begin maturing”
