Sanwo-Olu Bans Okada Operations in Lagos

The serving gov of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared the ban on Okada operations in Six Local Govt Area on Wednesday (May 18) during a meeting with Police authorities in the state.

He explained that the ban is total indefinite in Surulere, Lagos Mainland, Ikeja, Apapa, Eti-Osa, and Lagos Island LG areas.

We are now directing a total prohibition on Okada operations across the high-ways and bridges within these six LG Areas and their LCDA areas, effective from 1st of June, 2022.”

The okada operators in other communities can find something to do, Sanwo-Olu stated.

The action is in accordance with regulations of the state Transport Sector 2018 Reform Law, warned the state law enforcement authorities to execute the new development without compromise.

The gov urged the good people of Lagos State patronising motorcycle should find alternative transportation means.

He further explained that the govt has provide another means of transportation in the affected areas, Last-Mile Buses for the people in those areas.

The prohibition has come to stay, as govt will not sit down and fold its hand watching criminals using Okada to disrupt the peace in the State, He cited.
