Dealer imprisoned for N2.8m fraud gets 100k fine option in Kano

The command of Kano anti-graft agency preserved the conviction of a dealer, identified as Mukhtar Ali, who was charged to High Court in the State on 3 counts of corruption and criminal charge.

The suspect collected the total amount of 2.8 million naira for the purchase of Toyota car from US in 2018 and spent the money on his private use thereby engaging in an offence punishable under Section (312) of the Penal-Code.

The criminal pleaded guilty to the three (3) counts.

B.M Buhari, the prosecution counsel implored the court to sentence him accordingly.

Counsel for the suspect, Ahmed Adejumoh, begged the court to temper justice with mercy, saying the culprit was apologetic and did not waste the time of the judiciary

Then, the judge sentenced him on 1 count to 6 months jail or pay N50,000 fine

On the other count, he was sentenced to 3 months or N20,000 fine while the third count was sentenced to 4 months in jail or pay N30,000 fine.
