INEC provides Regulations, Guidelines For 2023 Elections

INEC-Indepentent Electoral Commission has provided the regulations and guidelines to follow for the upcoming general elections in Nigeria.

The Commission Boss, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu made this known to the public during a meeting with ICCES-Inter Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security at the INEC headquarters on Friday [June 4] in Abuja.

With the coming into force of the 2022 Electoral Act, it has become essential to evaluate the commission’s regulations and guidelines to operate the procedure of elections, he stated.

On different occasions, the board has assured the citizens that we are formulating the regulations and guidelines for the elections. Im glad to affirm that the document is available and will be introduced to citizens shortly. The soft copy will be available to our website with the link shared on our digital platforms.

Yakubu disclosed that the exercise guide would also be introduced to Nigerians in the next two of weeks while board would concentrate on election management going forward.

He detailed such areas to include training, voter education, logistics, technology, inclusivity measures, sensitisation against vote-buying and security, among others.

ICCES would continue to exploit a significant role and developed the appreciation of the electoral mediator to all security agents for their assistance.

lNEC boss also talked about their preparations for the gubernatorial elections in Ekiti and Osun, as well as the CVR-Continuous Voter Registration.
