Owo massacre: Nigerian Police discover Three Unexploded Bombs

The Sunday attack on Francis Catholic church in Owo area 0f Ondo State which claimed over 20 lives and injured several others. The NPF-Nigeria Police Force has revealed that the Explosive Ordinance Experts has recovered three unexploded bombs around the church.

Other things recovered at the church premises are AK-47 ammunition while the EOD-CBRNE-Explosive Ordnance Devices; Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Explosives unit substantiated the usage of Explosives as fragments of the IEDs used were discovered.

The Nigeria IGP has condemned the killings of honest individuals in the assault.

Muyiwa Adejobi, the NPF spokesperson while conveying information on the investigate stated, ” IGP Usman Alkali Baba has denounced in all fullness, the harsh homicide of honest people in an attack on Owo Catholic church.

The incident which was carried out by unidentified armed men on Sunday [June 5] around 11:00am.

The armed men, from initial scrutinies, occupied the worship place with elements reported to be explosives and arms.

Further investigations disclosed that some of the terrorists masked as worshipers, while other terrorists who had placed themselves at the church premises from different locations, shot into the church

The attackers escaped the scene using a [Nissan Sunny vehicle] with Registration Number. [AKR 895 AG] which was grabbed from the holder, and fled through Ute-Owo road. The car has been reclaimed while the possessor of the car is presently helping security in its investigations.

“The Alkili Baba has ordered full investigations into the matter to bring to justice the attackers of the murder of the congregations of the church.
