Gov Akeredolu has cancelled the 2022 democracy day celebration in the state following the attack which occurred at St Francis Church in Ondo State.

Gov Akeredolu published this on his Twitter page on Saturday.

Ondo Gov cancels June 12 celebration over owo church attack

In honour of the victims of the panic attack at St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, the State Govt has canceled this year’s June 12 celebration,” the governor reveled.

“The cancelation is to allow the people of the State to mourn their family members, friends who lost their lives in the awful attack.

Earlier, Ondo Gov had faulted the Nigeria Government for criticizing the attack on the ISWAP-Islamic State’s West Africa Province, explaining the motion was hasty

He stated that ISWAP didn’t keep their attack, Gov stated during a virtual conversation with CSI-Christian Solidarity International

If they have accomplished it, they would have admitted. We are yet to know their personality and our security personnel are still on their trail”

As far as the Ondo Govt is concerned, the attack which left over twenty people dead and several others injured further strengthens the need for state police

One police command can not warrant safety in this nation. We need state police now,” he asserted during the meeting.

“We are doing our best with Amotekun. But they are suffering a lot of constraints in receiving all the equipment required to combat these criminals
