Abia APC crisis looms: Umbrella Group blows hot on continued blackmails against ex-nigerian minister by factional party leader, Ikechi Emenike
By Chijindu Emeruwa.
The recent purported suspension slammed on Abia party leader and the immediate past Minister of State, Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uche Ogah, over alleged anti-party activities by a factional leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia state, backed by the party’s state governorship flagbearer at the just-concluded 2023 general election held across many states of Nigeria federation, on Saturday, drew total condemnation from a pro-democracy organization in fold of the progressive party in the state.
The group membered by core party faithfuls, political associates, teeming admirers, and followers across the lengths and breadths of the state, spoke under the auspices of Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah Movement (USOM), on Saturday, accused Ikechi Emenike, whom it described as a self-serving emperor and insatiable power monger, of masterminding the recent imaginary suspension of the ex-minister.
In a statement issued by Chima Obiwuru of the media directorate of the socio-political umbrella group, laughed off the purported suspension of the ex-minister by the parallel structure of APC in Abia state and also described the recent action of the party as cheap blackmails by Emenike and political hirelings.
The immediate past Minister of State, Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uche Ogah, former National party Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole and other Abia party’s chieftains
According to the group, “it is nothing but a figment of poor imagination to label anti party activities on a man on whose shoulders and image APC Abia state was built in 2018 going into 2019 general elections.
“Thus the party was able to garner over 100,000 votes in the presidential election in Abia when Dr Uche Ogah was on the ballot as the 2019 Abia APC Gubernatoral candidate and almost unseated a sitting governor in the keenly-contested race and came second unlike the very shameful and poor outing APC got under the gubernatorial candidacy of Chief Ikechi Emenike in the just-concluded 2023 elections, wherein, APC got a token vote of about 8000 in the presidential election and came a distant fourth position in the concluded governorship poll”.
The APC umbrella body frowned the display of political desperation, blackmail and pull-down syndromes by the Nigerian political class and also, called for a limit in spreading falsehoods and cheap blackmail on the foremost party leader, Uche Ogah.
Words: “We felt that there should be a limit in political desperation, blackmail and pull-down syndromes for anybody or group of few script players to think of fighting a man who has moved on peacefully with his life after all that happened prelude to the 2023 elections.
“Those who hijacked the party ticket and collected huge sums of money for tne election from the national headquarters only to be rejected by the electorate. Because, their unpopularity in Abia state should go and render account of the money they collected instead of trying to blame our principal or hide under any pretence or use Dr Ogah as a cover in the name of anti party activities”.
While further berating Emenike’s continued distractions and his other uncovered evil machinations against Ogah, the group, however, reiterated it remained unperturbed, not to be distracted by the evil antics of maverick Abia factional APC leader, ikechi emenike, as it also mocked latter for allegedly failing to demonstrate capacity in securing victory at the polling units in his ohuhu umuahia electoral ward, local government area and the state for the party during the recently-conducted general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
It stated: “Despite all these distractions, Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah Movement (USOM), with the support of our principal, will continue to be a beacon of hope and shield to all members of Abia APC.
“We can never be perturbed by the antics of a drowning and supposed party candidate and his sponsors who couldn’t even win their polling units, ward and local government area.
Ikechi Emenike is the 2023 Abia State Governorship candidate
“Politics they say is local and only a little survey within the street of Abia will tell who is the bride and image of Abia APC”.
Recalls Otti, the LP gubernatoral flagbearer in Abia state was declared winner of the just-concluded 2023 main governorship elections by INEC, after polling a total of 175, 467 votes cast to beat close rivals, beating close rivals whom were the candidate to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Okey Ahiwe who scored 88,529 votes to come second.
