
Abuja south lawmaker, Kwali chair attends Etsumi Dangara’s coronation

A house of representatives member, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, and chairman of Kwali area council of the FCT, Hon Danladi Chiya, were dignitories that graced the coronation ceremony of the new Etsumi Dangara’s coronation ceremony HRH Umar Salihu.
Ajiya, who was the chairman of the occasion, disclosed that the 10th national assembly under the leadership of Tajudeen Abbas will work towards creating constitutional roles for traditional rulers in the country.
The lawmaker, is representing Abuja south federal constituency, which comprised of Abaji, Kwali, Gwagwalada and area councils of the FCT.
He said that such roles will give room to traditional rulers to participate in issues bordering their subjects especially on security, saying traditional rulers are closer to people at the grassroots.
Ajiya, while congratulating the new Etsumi Dangara HRH Umar Salihu on his coronation, urged him to ensure he carried his people along irrespective of tribe, ethnic or religious affiliations.
He also appreciated the people of Dangara chiefdom for their overwhelming support gave him during the last election to emerge victorious.
Also speaking, the chairman of Kwali area council, Danladi Chiya, who was the chief host of the event, stressed on the need for people of the Dangara chiefdom to live in peace with each other.
He said his administration since on assumption has always been given priority to promoting the traditional institution, saying the council under his leadership has ensured successful installation of seven chiefs including two graded chiefs across the council.

The chairman, while congratulating the chief, called on people of Dangara chiefdom to support their new chief in order to foster peace, unity and development of Dangara chiefdom.
“And I also want to call on your highness to bear in mind that you cannot rule alone, as you must seek the support of your people especially your opponent that contested for the chieftaincy stool and carry him along,” he said.
He further urged the chief to ensure he settle issues that involved farmers and herders in his chiefdom amicably.
