Kogi Guber: Dino Melaye Confident of victory, storms Lokoja Market to Empowers over 200 market women, youths
The 2023 Kogi State Governorship Candidate on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party ( PDP), Senator Dino Melaye together with his running mate, Hon. Habibat Deen and other prominent stakeholders were received by a large crowd of supporters in Lokoja, Kogi State capital.
Naijareports had reported that Dino and his thousands of supporters visited the popular Lokoja new market where over 200 market women and men were empowered with cash worth millions of naira.
Addressing mammoth crowd who came out to received him and PDP delegation, Senator Melaye said the people of Kogi state had known him for been a pragmatic leader having served as member House of representatives for 8 years and senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with outstanding record of excellent and achievements, hence the need to entrust him with another leadership in order to do more.
According to him, When we’re voted into power as governor of Kogi state come 11th November, 2023, the issues of none payment of salaries to local government staff and percentage salaries to teachers would be a thing of the past, civil servants who were screened out unjustly would be called back according to the merit of their cases and all promotions will be cash backed.
“Kogi youth, women and elderly people will be empowered including the physically challenged persons among others, projects will be executed without discrimination.”
Melaye noted that he would govern with the fear of God Almighty and unite the people in respective of party differences and political affiliation as he was qualified having served the country in different capacities as a former member of the House of Representatives and senator.
On his empowerment to the market men and women in Lokoja , he stated that, the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidy was much on Nigerians most especially the market men and women as some petty traders could not afford transport fees, talk less of the power to purchase goods and services as bread winners of various homes have been relegated to the background without adequate care from the government.
He further said, he appreciated the large turnout of the electorate from Lokoja and all over the state. He assured them of better days ahead if voted as the next governor of Kogi state come 11th November, 2023.
He further stated that, the Lokoja market was built by the PDP led government, specialist hospital, Lokoja Greater Water scheme, lokoja township stadium, dualization of lokoja township road, government house and many other projects in the state.
He recalled that the government in power tried to deprive him and his supporters for today’s empowerment programme but he want to remind them that PDP is not like any other political parties in the state as his party is rooted strong to take over power come November 11th, 2023.
He promised that all political activities planned by the party will go on as scheduled and urge supporters to keep faith with the party and remain resolute to get the power back as the end of this ugly era is near.
Various speakers spoke in appreciation of Senator Dino determination to right the wrong in the state.
Notable among them was his running mate, Hon Habibat Deen , former speaker of the Kogi state House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Imam Hassan, former commissioner for water resources Hon Yabagi Bologi, Hon. Paul Ukwenya care taker committee member of the party in the state Hon. Kabir Muhammad, former House of Assembly candidate on the platform of PDP from Ofu LGA, Hon M. Muhammad, PDP chairman, Ofu LGA, Hon Timothy Omora, former commissioner for works and housing, Kogi state, the party secretary from Ijumu LGA, pastor Obalemo, former chairman, Ibaji LGA, Hon David Ogwu, Kabba Bunu House of Assembly candidate in the just concluded 2023 general election, former Zonal chairman, Kogi west, Hon. Bariga Muhammed Hon Iyodo from Dekina and host of others from across the state all spoke in appreciation of the PDP candidate, Senator Dino Melaye for the good gesture, stating that PDP is set to reclaim its mandate in Kogi state.
