Our Collective Peace Is Non-negotiable, Usman Jibrin Sues For Peace Amid Rising Political Tension
Amidst the brewing political tension in Kogi State ahead of the November 11th governorship election, the Accord Party’s governorship candidate, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin (Rtd), has today urged the architects of the violent and unprovoked attacks to desist.
In a statement signed by the campaign council, the former Chief of Naval Staff issued a stern warning to the engineers of the crime he claimed has eaten deep into our principal system.
The statement became pertinent following the incident in Koton Karfe yesterday that led to the death of an innocent young lady, leaving several others with numerous degrees of injuries as a result of gunshots.
Usman Jibrin, in clear terms, called for peace across the nooks and crannies of Kogi State, adding that no blood of any Kogi State citizen is worth the office we’re pursuing.
In the final analysis, the subjects must be alive for one to rule over them; taking people out of circulation because of political gains is, to me, the greatest act of wickedness to mankind. We can’t continue to allow violence into our electoral system; this has to stop, he added.
While I call on the relevant agencies to investigate the matter, I sincerely urge the parties and individuals involved to thread with outmost caution to pervert retaliatory attacks of all sorts. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved. I know how difficult this time can be, and I passionately urge you to be law-abiding, as the perpetrators of this evil will not go unpunished, he concluded.
Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin (Rtd) is the Accord Party governorship candidate for the November 11th election in Kogi State.
