Kogi State High Court Silent over Arrest Warrant on SDP Deputy Gov’norship Candidate

The Kogi State High Court presided by Hon. Justice AM. Ibrahim was totally silent on the request of the DPP of Kogi State Ministry of Justice requesting an arrest and remand of the Social Democratic Party ( SDP) Deputy Governor candidate for the 11th November 2023 Kogi state governorship election, Hon Sam Abenemi Ranti

Presenting his case before the court , counsel from the ministry Barr. M.O. Otaru on behalf of others argue that ,the defendant ought to be present in person having been aware of the case at instance.

J.S. Okutepa SAN lead counsel along with Barr. Shuiabu Aruwa SAN, J.O Adele SAN, Barr. W.A. Aliwo among others for the defendant posited that his client is yet to be officially served notice of sermons as the order of the court was delivered on 9th October 2023 at about 3.05 pm and the order of the court as regard to criminal justice system of Kogi State High Court is very clear and explicit as regards to process of service and the condition is yet to be applied in the instance case.

The judge ,having listened to all parties for or against adjourned the case to 23th October 2023 for further mention.

Confluence news gathered that, the Barr. Okutepa SAN who could not hide his displeasure over the condition of the court , urged the judicial official to live by the details of their office as it’s only in Kogi state that a conference room will be turned to court without adequate sitting arrangements for senior advocates and other lawyers as even the presiding judge could not be said to be comfortable.

According to J.S. Okutepa SAN all courts are supposed to be temple of justice and that , a situation where judges and litigants are not comfortable calls for concern of all.
