Ohanaeze youth leader, Okpalaezeukwu applauds Igbo leaders for honouring late Irukwu

The National leader of the youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Comrade Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, has applauded leaders of igbo ethnic-nationality on posthumous award bestowed on the late former President General of the apex igbo socio-cultural organisation, Professor Joe Irukwu.
Irukwu, who died in July at the age of 89, was buried on Saturday in his hometown, Amokwe Item, Bende Local Government Area in Abia State, after funeral ceremonies that traversed London, Lagos and Umuahia.
The body of the erudite insurer, lawyer and administrator was committed to mother earth after an inter-denominational church service at Jane Egbichi Oteh Mini-stadium, Amokwe Item, where the virtues of the late elder statesman were generously captured in tributes and eulogies.

Earlier, Mr Okpalaezeukwu, while speaking with a cross section of journalists shortly after the funeral ceremony at the weekend, noted that the late Professor Joseph Irukwu was committed in promoting the interest of igbo nation when he was alive.
He also noted that the deceased will continue to be remembered as a great nationalist, insurance tycoon per excellence and role model who saw and conquered in all spheres of human endeavors.
Mr Okpalaezeukwu used the medium to extend the condolences of entire youths of igbo ethnic-nationality to Irukwu family, the Government and people of Abia state and Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide ably led by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu (Ahaejiagamba).
According to the ohanaeze youth leader, “May God accept the soul of Late Professor Joe Ogbonnaya Irukwu and grant him eternal rest in the bossom of the lord, Amen”.
