Nasarawa Assembly to review upward budgetary allocation of Abuja liaison office

…..As state lawmakers visit Abuja liaison office on oversight function, with emphasis on transparency, accountability.
Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has urged management of Nasarawa State Liaison Office Abuja and other MDAs of the State Government to continue to ensure transparency and accountability in their activities for the overall development of the State.
The House also advocated upward review budget allocation of the Abuja Liaison Office for effective service delivery.
Hon Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki, the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts stated this when the committee visited Nasarawa State Liaison office, Abuja on its 2023 budget assessment today in Abuja.
Hon Akwashiki (SDP) Lafia Central and the Minority Whip of the House said that the visit was to assess the Liaison Office 2023 budget performance.
He also said that the visit was not a witch Hunt but to see how the committee can support the Liaison Office in addressing it challenges.
“It was on Monday Oct 16, 2023, that the Rt. Hon Speaker, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi directed the House Standing Committees to embark on oversight functions.
” As the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has empowered us to oversight the activities of MDAs.
” We are here to assess your 2023 budget performance, know your challenges and how we can come in” He said.
He urged the management of the liaison office to keep adequate record of all Nasarawa State Government properties in Abuja.
” We want you to take proper records of our properties in Area 11 Garaki and other places in Abuja, ” he said
The committee chairman assured of the committee’s readiness to review the budget of the Liaison Office upward for effective service delivery.
” We want to assure you that we will partner and support you to see how we can review your budget upward so that you can have reasonable amount for the activities of this office to be implemented successfully,” he said
Earlier, Mr Zaka Yakubu, the Permanent Secretary, Nasarawa State Liaison Office, Abuja appreciated the committee for supporting its activities to succeed.
” We want to assure you of our maximum support and cooperation to enable your committee succeed in oversighting our activities.

“Nasarawa State belong to all of us, we need to work together and develop our State collectively ” He said.
The permanent secretary assured of his determination to ensure transparency and accountability in their activities.
