Economic downturn: Gowon canvasses support for Tinubu, urges Nigerians to be patient

Following lamentation by Nigerians as occasioned by harsh economic, the former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, has advised Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Gowon also asked Nigerians to President Tinubu time to resolve the various issues bedeviling the nation.

The elder statesman spoke with newsmen on Wednesday, February 21, after meeting with the President at the State House of Presidential Villa, Abuja.

“Well, I was telling the President that no Nigerian leader that can get there and will not have all the report of what is being said about him. But certainly, there’s no doubt from what one hears and what one sees on the various media etc, I think the government is trying their best to deal with the various problems of the country but with Nigerians?

“I think all what one can say is that Nigerians, we’ve got to give the president time to get things done. And it is too early to sort of say the absolute result, the perfect result will be achieved now.”

Naija Reporters investigation revealed that there had been ongoing protests against hunger, high cost of living, and insecurity, seeking the government’s urgent attention to address issues bedeviling the nation.

President Tinubu in his address to Nigerians appealed for calm and pledged to ensure all that is needed is provided to Nigerians.
