Trait Of A Man Ready To Work: Dekina Chairman Rescues Key Rural Road Few Weeks In Office

A ragged ribbon of mud and craters winds through the abundant farmlands and remote villages along Dekina’s Ojikpadala-Egume axis. This battered tract is the lifeline for thousands, linking hamlets to bustling markets and binding clusters of rural homesteads to the urban center.

But for decades it has been eroded by torrential rains and rutted by rumbling convoys, often rendering it nearly impassable. The resilient locals reliant on this essential road to access livelihoods, schooling, care and provisions have long suffered bone-jarring journeys, vehicles mired helpless in the sucking mud.

So as the council Boss, Hon. John Urah Ikani formally commenced grading of the beleaguered Ojikpadala-Egume road this month, it marked an epochal moment for out people at the grassroot. His responsive administration swiftly mobilized contractors to site, reshaping the gash of rugged road and filling its cavernous pits ahead of durable stone filling surfacing.

When completed, the road will slash travel durations and costs for transporters, accelerate haulage of crops from the surrounding farmland, and expand market access for rural enterprises. But more profoundly, it will enable all-weather mobility between hamlets so residents can readily obtain care, educate children, and access livelihoods in the Dekina commercial nucleus.

For Ikani, furnishing this long-sought infrastructure respite in his first months makes concrete his focus on uplifting life in neglected rural enclaves across Dekina LGA. It is the inaugural stride in a broader mission to pave the way for grassroots transformation through governance centered wholly on human prosperity.
