NLC Protest: Kebbi Deputy Governor Tafida pledges Prompt Action on Labour’s Demands.

The Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida says the state government will critically look into the demands of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC to cushion the economic hardship caused by removal of fuel subsidy.

Tuesday, 27th February, 2024, while Addressing the members of Nigeria Labour Congress and other affiliated unions in Birnin Kebbi, who were on nationwide mass protest against the economic hardship, the deputy governor said the state government would do everything possible to ensure worker’s demands were properly met.

Earlier speaking, the Ag. Chairman of NLC, Comrade Aliyu Abubakar Udu requested for the immediate payment of wage award to state and local government workers and release of additional palliatives to workers and general public, especially food items to address the lingering hunger in the society.

He further requested for the immediate payment of local government staff withheld salaries by some Chairmen for a period of time and immediate approval of N30,000 minimum wages circular as well as creation of the state transport system to ease hardship of transportation within and outside the state among other demands.

Comrade Abubakar acknowledged the good efforts of the state government under the leadership of Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu in various sectors of human development.
