Afghan authorities say millions of people from 11 provinces were without electricity on Saturday, following an explosion at several power poles west of the capital Kabul.

The power outage comes as Eid al-Fitr, the holy month of Ramadan, approaches.

On Friday night, two electric bombs were detonated and detonated, causing fires in the capital and neighbouring areas.

As authorities try to make temporary repairs to contain the blaze on Saturday night, police say they have arrested two people suspected of planting the bomb.
