Workers Day: Lawan seeks Speedy End to Lecturers Strike

Ahmad Lawan, the Nigeria Senate President yelled for a speedy and agreeable resolution to the Lecturer strike nationwide.

He made this declaration while commemorating Nigerian Labour for the 2022 workers’ day.

In a statement approved by his spokesman, Ola Awoniyi, he said Nigerian workers warrant appreciation and honour for their donations to the growth of the country.

“I also honour them for their nationalistic cooperation with the government and other organizations in the communal actions to address societal challenges.

“There is no gainsaying the truth that Labour generates wealth for the country, the more purpose that the welfare of the Nigerian employees should always be accorded prerogative.

“As legislator, the National Assembly will renew to partner with the Organised workers in addressing matters that affect workers and the stereotype of the Nigerian citizens.

In the spirit of workers’ Day, I request a speedy and peaceful resolution of the constant negotiations between the Nigeria Government and ASUU-Academic Staff Union of Universities to ensure that government universities reopen for learning and research activities.
